Translated research findings into persona profiles that we could empathize with as we develop plans for service delivery, programming, and communication strategy for our expanded spaces at Central Library.
Goals
To develop reliable and realistic representation of key audience segments to be used as a reference tool
To apply an element of human-centred thinking in the planning of service delivery, programming, and communications for the opening of expanded spaces at the library
Role
Worked jointly with data analyst to draw insights from quantitative and qualitative survey results and conduct segment analysis. Then I designed and presented on a set of 5 personas based on the research findings.
Process
Research
We conducted an online survey to learn how the public intends to use the new expanded spaces at the Central Library. In two weeks, we captured 2,226 responses.
In our analyses, we
- reviewed overall survey results
- conducted segment analysis
- summarized verbatims and identified themes
- created user profiles
Design
I designed a set of personas based on our research data to exemplify those who are interested and would likely become users of our expanded spaces. These fictional people illustrated real expressed motivations, concerns and behaviours from our survey responses.
Outcome
The personas were presented to several departments involved in the Central Library Expansion project. Personas have been used to inform communication strategy and for devising content around the opening of the expanded spaces. They are also being used as an ongoing reference tool for planning programs in the library.
